This post was created from a hot tub in Cambridgeshire using the "BBMetaBlog" application on my BlackBerry.
If you don't actively Blog you'll almost certainly be aware of 'Blogging'. If you are a member of the Domino community it's just as likely that you'll know about Declan Sciolla-Lynchs' Blogsphere application.
There are several ways of maintaining an online journal built with Blogsphere. You can use
- A Notes Client
- Email
- A remote blogging Application Programming Interface (API)
It's that last option that I wanted to highlight in this post.
Blogsphere has an implementation of the MetaWebLog API. Essentially an agent that can process XML the XML-RPC agent in Blogsphere allows you to create posts in 3rd party tools like Windows LiveWriter or FireFox ScribeFire.
With these tools you can create and edit posts, you can list existing posts and even delete posts. This can make posting extremely convenient.
Blogging can be a spontaneous activity so imagine that you are away from your desk BlackBerry in hand. Say in a hot tub surrounded by friends and you feel like posting to your blog. I know it sounds unlikely but stranger things have happened and if the hot tub doesn't work for you use another image. You could email or you could post directly to your blog with your BlackBerry and the MetaWebLog API..
