About OpenCOD

openCOD is an Open Source initiative for BlackBerry handheld applications and the wide variety of backend systems you might want to connect a BlackBerry to. Members of openCOD get together to share their ideas, expertise and enthusiasm to create BlackBerry applications and games and release the source code for others to download and use. Open Source can reduce the cost of ownership for businesses, and it can raise the skill of the participants and consumers in all of the technologies that are used.

As an example of this philosophy almost all of the software running this site has been provided by the Lotus Domino Open Source community OpenNTF.org. We're extremely grateful to OpenNTF and even more so because the guys say "no thanks necessary....".

What openCOD provides is a framework for the BlackBerry community to come together and create really good software for the BlackBerry and any backend applications needed on platforms like Lotus Domino, Microsoft, Novell, SAP and so on.
